Sokol1 277 Posted October 24, 2020 Английский - русский Can someone help with an more "technical" translation for "Suction" to Russian? This is for the label of the pop-up that appear when mouse over the instrument present in the cockpit of Blenheim, Kittyhawk, Tomahawk, Blenheim... of CloD (Cliffs of Dover - Battle of Britain). For English version of CloD was used the term will be: "Suction gauge" For Spanish version: "Indicador de succión" "Индикатор всасывания" is appropriated? BTW - Any suggestion about other labels? Dornil 554 Posted October 25, 2020 At first glance "указатель подсоса" sounds more approprate. But to tell for sure it would be nice to know the context. I.e., what does this suction actually do in the aircraft?
Sokol1 277 Posted October 25, 2020 Not sure, but seems related to Artificial Horizon and Directional Gyro instruments. In an flight simulator game just a cosmetic instrument, without practical use. What are the words used in this P-40 (Il-2:BoS) labels, the Italic font used make difficult to read. I the instrument just behind the red lamp at the right side. ACG_Rostic 522 Posted October 25, 2020 Below red lamp on the right side is written: Индикатор всасывания воздуха

Sokol1 277 Posted October 26, 2020 (edited) No, this "I.suction" is related with the vacum generated by the pump that spin the Directional Gyro. See in this article: https://airpages.ru/book/instrument_56.shtml Is the instrument number 10, in FIG. 348 If the vacum indicated by the instrument is not in the calibrated range, typically 5 inch/HG, the Directional Gyro indication is not reliable. Dornil 554 Posted October 28, 2020 (edited) Contextually, based on my understanding of instrument's operation and limited knowledge of Russian aviation terminology, I would go with "Указатель разрежения". Edited October 28, 2020 by Dornil

This pic has some absolutely incorrect translations, so it's not a valid source The translation given in a message above by Dornil is way more accurate.
